| Apr 10 2008 Macomber Knit Together; Abrahams ; Skirts; 1977 LHJ Vintage; Sweater NOW; Son of Stitch'Bitch | |
Good Grief! Where did this energy come from for a second newsletter on the same day!
OK- Lets share some rather exciting books! SON OF STITCH 'N BITCH- OK ! OK! The name is not exactly the best one to use at home but this has been Debbie Stoller's modus operandi. This book has 45 knit and crochet projects for MEN ! Some of them are for 'nerds' but most are for the wholesome man! SWEATER NOW- a gorgeous vintage book in Japanese featuring beautiful designs for men and women. It features 30 sweaters with that very sophisticated look Japanese designers have been know to be. And don't worry too much about translating it because this book uses symbols and everyone can use those! Ladies' Home Journal Vintage Kniiting book from 1977. This fascinating book features projects for man, women and children. Many of the designs are very unique for Americana. The Tricoter knitters have published another great book on Handknit Skirts. Skirts have been neglected for far too long. During the winter months, Rose wears hand knitted skirts every day. She reminds customers that I wouldn't give her time to shop at Nordstroms so she started knitting them herself! The emerging British designer 'Debbie Abrahams' is a bundle of energy for such a young lady. I have lost track of the number of books she has published but they are continuously coming down the pipeline. She is SO talented and a real treasure! Knit Together - a novel by Debbie Macomber. An interesting sojourn into reading while having a break from your knitting! Thank you again and we will try to bring you some more in a day or two.

Hello to our most patient but most admired world wide customers and friends from Sunny Southern California.
At this rate, it make take me forever to get caught up so I shall dispense with any side views and get down to sharing a few new arrivals. COVER UP BY NICKY EPSTEIN-this is a gigantic hard back book of Nicky's personal afghan collection. I may as well ask you to look up amazon.com and see some of those high prices for out of print Vanna White's afghan books and Nicky's are so georgeous, I can't wait to see what it might sell for when it is out of print. SIMPLY SHETLAND 4 At Tamales Bay- many of you have been waiting for #4 for a long time and it is now here. A gorgeous book you will find most exciting and start knitting almost immediately. NEW PATHWAYS FOR SOCK KNITTERS BOOK ONE- Cat Boddhi is on a warpath again because she is such an exciting designer whose goal is to conquer the world with her masterful collections. A gigantic book of 138 pages with socks and more socks and more socks AND she is working on Book #2. We admire her so much for her creative genius! KNITTED SOCKS by Anna Tillman- this hard back book features 25 designs and they are all designed to keep your feet very happy! WENLAN CHIA is at it again with her latest book 'TWINKLE'S WEEKEND KNITS'- Wenlan's reputation is going up and up with every new book she publishes. KNITTING NEW MITTENS AND GLOVES- by Robin Melanson- this is another excellent book on mittens and gloves. Now I may as well share with you a silly mistake we made. We sold about 30 of Schurch's Mostly Mittens for around $22.50. The customer who bought our very last one asked me 'why are you giving this book away?' and so we had a 5 minute conversation. Thus I looked up amazon.com and they had a USED copy for $299.95. Darn, I blew a sibling's college education ! Most of you do not know that there are collectors , hoarders, designers and a rather new group who are INVESTORS who have discovered a secret in the art of collecting trendy books of great designers. In a sense, they are ruining the market for some of us but those who collect old books know that their investment will likely be better with rare books than stamps, coins, plates, figurines and even stocks, bonds and real estate. Just take a peek at Norsk and see what it sells for. Or, for that matter,. take a look at Alice Starmore's books. Thank you and we hope you will have a great day!

Hopefully, I'll dispense with some esoteric side talk and just home in on the new or interesting arrivals for you. LANAS KATIA Baby and Toddlers books #44 and #45. Quite frankly, we hope Lanas Katia will mend their ways and number their books in a proper way. In fight, on 03-14-08 amazon.com had it listed for $87.60 which is more than our $75.00 price. It is a hard back book consisting of 180 pages. Don't wait too long to secure your copy because we can not promise how long it will remain in our shelves. Thank you for your patience and we promise to speed up our act a little bit over the next few months. Fot those who know us well, we also have a separate newsletter on my on going battle with this nemesis and my cheerleaders have been fantastic in helping me lift my spirits and will to fight this. Hello to our faithful worldwide customers, friends, & cheerleaders
I personally wish to thank many of you for your care and support while I have been battling this monstrous foe. Your cheers most certainly help to lift my spirits and continue the battle and I could not thank you enough. This has been the primary reason for falling behind on our newsletter. And so I will try to get caught up- that is, if it is at all possible. Let us share some new arrivals with you. Interweave Knits Winter 2007- a great magazine is here again and all of you know by now that the fall issue sold out within weeks of its introduction and it has become a hot collectable but we, too, sold out within days after we received it. | Feb 19 2008 Gedifra; Abrahams; Louisa Haring; ONE SKEIN
It looks I sneaked a 3rd newsletter today but I promise the next one will be in a couple days!
ONE SKEIN- 30 quick projects to knit and crochet just with one skein of YARN! Let's GO FOR IT! Gedifra 081- what a long delay in getting this book. However what a beautiful book! 25 Beaded Knits- Debbie Abrahams will be the next Debbie Bliss. She is very young and very pretty and has already published several outstanding books. This 128 hard back masterpiece is one of her best! Louisa Harding's Enchanted Garden- this is a super outstanding Toddler books. Good toddler books have not always been very plentiful but this one closes the gap just a little bit. A great book! Lang Books are always 'slow' in arriving. I guess one of the reasons the publisher expects a boatload of yarn before they ship the books to the importer thus we do have many delays. I am not sure how #153 sneaked into the photo shoot wagon but it did. #162, however, is the latest one. It is full of dramatic and classical styles. Thank you again!

| Feb 19 2008 Rowan & Nashua Books | |
Hello to our fantastic worldwide customers, friends, and cheerleaders from a rainy Southern California day!
We really do appreciate your patience and understanding concerning our untimely response to our newsletter. However, we will share a little poem with you that yours truly wrote in 1984. In the meantime, we will try to speed up these newsletters so that you can view many of the latest new yarns and books as well as many of our vintage books that are currently in high demand, Rowan has rewarded us with some exciting new books as noted herewith. Rowan #43 is the new Spring Summer treatise for 2008. Rowan most certainly sets a standard of unsurpassed style and excellence in its 148 pages. Don't pass up this magnificent issue else you might lament at a possible future collectable price that might be beyond reach. Some of the vintage books sell for over $400.00 in the secondary collector's market. Purelife, the Organic Cotton Collection- we have been marketing Organic Cotton for over 20 years but the supply has often been very scarce. However, within our health conscious world, we now see more organic cotton from various sources. Many people now will not use an acrylic for themselves and never, never for their babies. Organic is a natural choice because there are no dyes, no pesticides, and no harmful chemicals used in the production of Organic cotton. This 82 page book is perfect. All Season At The Mill- 52 page collection of great patterns from Rowan. Nashua County Fair- Nashua, a brand of Rowan, brings to you typical American styles. County Fair consists of 24 trendy and exciting styles for you. Nashua - The North American Designer Collection #6- whow! 32 pages of gorgeous styles. The dress alone is worth the price of the book! Nashua- Blossom - There have been hundreds of thousands of baby books written over the last 100 years but it seems there is always room for one more and Blossom has certainly hit the mark. You will agree with us 100%. Now here is the little poem I would like to share with you. AN EXCERPT OF A CHILDHOOD DREAM Let not a childhood dream Wither without purpose Let not your fear of life Engulf you with terror The beautiful spring leaves And blossoms Always sing melodious songs And while you see those leaves Fall to the ground And be crushed by each footstep Then turn into dust From whence they came Align your mind, your soul and your heart So that love flourishes And know that you are not sinful Learn that life has a purpose Follow its path wisely And know that once love is giveth It is returned in kind one hundredfold Kakos Copyright 03-1984
| Jan 14 2008 Vogue Knitting Vintage Patterns | |
Hello to our great worldwide customers and friends from 78 degree Southern California where summer decides to call it its home.
Although many things are happening and there is excitement in the air, many of us cherish the comfort of bygone days. With this in mind, we would like to share with you some of Vogue Knitting's most favorite patterns from times past. And so we will start with Adrienne Vittadini's 'The Color Marbled Cardigan' which has earned many laurets in the past. Using beautiful alaca and wool blend yarns, these earthern colors are most striking and also most tantalizing and the narrow cables add that extra touch of contrast. Next we will start with Adrienne Vittadini's 'Lurex-Striped Mohair Pull'- you will agree those suede leaf appliques add that special touch of elegance to this sophisticated pullover and that luxury mohair is simply stunning! Finally, we have Adrienne Vittadini's 'The Color Marbled Turtle Neck'- those color bands of cables and seed stitch are most effective and the lush alpaca and wool blend yarns earn everyone's stamp of approval. Next the super easy 'Tunic-Vests in Two Lengths' by the venerable Joan Vass is simply great. The wool and wool blend yarns add that special touch. The tunics are easy - easy to make. Next we have Carol Horn's 'Sophisticated Sweater-Jacket' whose style and beauty is timeless! Anny Blatt's Sport Wool is simply outstanding. Next the Aztec/Japanesque Tunic is bold and colorful which is a testimonial by the desiger Kansai Yamamoto. We used to sell those yarn packs like there was no tomorrow. The tunic was made with a good quality cotton. Last, but not least, Kansai Yamamoto's 'Two-tone Jacquard Pull' demonstrates the designer's power and expertise in bringing you unexpected color variations for which Kansai has earned his mark This Jacquard is perfect for the advanced and most sophisticated knitter. Please consider that we do not have many of these vintage patterns available. They can be a historical treasure for the dedicated collector. Thank you and we wish you a great week!
| Jan 12 2008 Filatura di Crosa Doria Yarn Sale | |
We thought this would be a good time to announce a BIG SALE on our fantastic Filatura di Crosa Doria yarn.
Doria contains 58% mohair, 40% wool and just 2% of Nylon. It works up like a bulky or 15 stitches on a 4'' square using a metric 5 or 6. The structure of the yarn is 'loopy' and the subtle shading colors are fantastic. The yardage is a little over 54 yards or 50 meters. In view of the unique structure of the yarn, it has been perfect for scarves, shawls, coats, jackets, and more. We have done rather well with this yarn and when we embellish it with strips of Anny Blatt's Baby Doll or Schewe's Anne Claire, the results have always been most dramatic. And so you might ask why would we want to put on sale such a great yarn? Well, for one thing we are now down to only these 4 colors and we thought it is about time we retire it from our stock. We have been selling it at $12.95 per skein or $129.50 per bag of 10 skeins. However, for a limited period, we will have it on sale for only $49.95 for a bag of 10. You can't possibly go wrong with such a magnificent yarn from one of the world's finest yarn companies. Thank you and let's run with the ball! PS- WE WILL ALSO INCLUDE A FREE FILATURA DI CROSA MAGAZINE WITH YOUR ORDER. WE WILL CHOOSE THE BOOK ISSUE BASED ON ISSUES WE MIGHT BE OVER STOCKED--

| Jan 08 2008 Berger du Nord Vintage Books | |
Hello to our great worldwide customers and friends from a cold, wet, and beautiful Southern California.
You ought to see our distant mountains that are full of snow down to about a 5,500 level. The views are awesome! We thank you for your good response on a number of vintage books and today we have decided to image a few Berger du Nord books as well. Of course these are in addition to those that are imaged on our normal site. #54 features 32 very colorful designs for the whole family and those styles for men are also particularly appealing. All these styles call for superwash wool. #55 also features 32 autumn styles for women. These designs are most colorful. #59, an I'Intermporel edition and its 36 designs has been a best seller and we had sold out but we were able to locate some in our cavernous warehouse. And so it is back again! #61 features 32 awesome feminine styles where angora is the talk of the town! Knit a beautiful style then head for Hollywood! #63 features 33 spring summer styles where cotton yarns dominate. Many styles are simply gorgeous! Kindly remember that we will likely sell out on some of these books quickly so please do not wait too long to place your order. Of side interest, 'Michael' found a treasure here yesterday. Our friends at amazon.com have had this book listed for $90.00 but 'Michael' found one tucked in our shelves at the original price of $27.95. Need less to say, it was meant to be that way and Michael was a happy camper! Thank you for continued support and have a nice day!
| Dec 31 2007 Happy New Year ! Let's Grab Those Valentino Patterns While They Last! | |
The new year is upon us already and my goals for the year were shattered beyond recognition!
Hopefully, my goals for 2008 will be cast in stone because they are that crucial for me. For the longest time, people were pleading for Valentino patterns and many years ago we were able to find some and those customors were delirious with joy. While cleaning up our back room, we found another small stack of patterns from this famous designer and we expect to sell out very quickly simply because we do not have that many available. And so, for just $4.75 for each pattern, do not hesitate to email your order today! When we mean we will sell out quickly, we mean just that! Enjoy the fantastic 2008 New Year! Thank you
| Dec 29 2007 Emu Vintage Pattern Books | |
Hello to our fantastic worldwide customers and friends from a cold, frigid, and rain threatened Southern California.
2008 will be here any minute and we wish all of you a Happy New Year. You can count on us to cherish 2008 as never before. Due to many inquiries from customers, we have decided to start imaging some vintage books for your interest. Those venerable vintage patterns have been sought after by many dedicated knitters as well as by folks who invariably enjoy collecting good patterns for posterity. As with many yarn companies, Emu did not survive the trials and tribulations of the 1980's but their patterns have always sold well with us. However, we are now towards the end in so far as the quantity of patterns we have available therefore we have selected just a few of our best sellers. FLORENTINE FASHION HAND KNITS- This book features 11 beautiful designs of which the jacket and skirt has been very popular. Please bear in mind that these patterns use a textured yarn and a double knitting yarn with amazing visual effects. MISTIQUE FASHION KNITS- featuring 13 exclusive designs, we would say the jumper and skirt has been a sensational knock out. ASTRAKHAN FASHION HAND KNITS- Featuring 13 exclusive designs, the book also includes designs for hats and a splendid beret. The high turtle cable knit has been marvellous. Elegant and Feminine cabled cardigan leaflet- this has been one of our favorite designs and it has sold a considerable amount of our former vast collection of Emu Superwash DK. Sporty cabled cardigan- another of our personal favorite leaflets! A Floral Sensation- by far, our best selling yarn pack during the good old days when we had tons of Emu Superwash DK in stock. Most certainly we can easily create a yarn pack using other comparable DK Superwash Wools if you wish. In the meantime, we do not have too many of these leaflets left. Again, we wish to thank you for your outstanding support on the business and personal level. There are no words that can express our appreciation for your care and concerns. Happy New Year!
| Dec 26 2007 Kaffe; Harding; King Cole; Lena Hardanger; Rowan Kid Silk Dream; Filati 32; Suff5; Bargello | |
We hope everyone had a very Merry Chrismas and that your holiday season has been most eventful.
Our frigid Southern California weather has overextended its stay and we won't shed any tears if it moves on. It is simpy too cold for our weary bones! Now a few new things that have arrived--- KAFFE KNITS AGAIN- there is Kaffe again bringing you some of his best themed creations in a new light. We are pleased that the wise master is still knitting! Rowan's Kid Silk Haze; Kid Silk Night and Kid Silk Spray have been awesome and the yarns have been well accepted by you, our valued customers. That is why the new book, Kid Silk Dream is destined to become one of Rowan's treasures! Enchanted Garden is a masterpiece publication by Louisa Harding on babies and toddlers using mostly her Kashmir Aran yarn. Great designs! Great yarn! Prism Art has released another book using one skein of her favorite yarns. Stuff Plus 5 most certainly has that magic touch that is unique to Laura Bryant. Filati #32 brings you some wonderful warm winter knits- white luxuries; seductive black magic designs, scarves and caps as well as a plethora of bright and chick colors. Lena Hardanger- there is no doubt the Germans and Danish monopolize the Hardanger niche. Folks make fantastic creations in Europe for their home decor. The Bargello Book seemed to be out of print until we discovered a small stack. It is now here and awaiting your indulgence! We have been out of stock on King Cole's Funky & Chunky Knits for kids. You can imagine our excitement when we discovered few misfiled copies. Don't wait very long because we expect to sell out fairly quickly. Thank you again and have a great day!
